I needed to get into the discomfort zone and stay there until my life aligned with my goals, and that included facing really uncomfortable challenges. The title made me uncomfortable, and that was the point. Although, quite honestly, it doesn’t matter if I say no because they’ll drag me to the destination regardless. I always have excuses ready, but it seems like everyone is so used to me saying “no” that no one asks why not. It’s also been true for me, on and off since like 2001. (And this is really the only lesson you’ll ever need to know.)” ― Shonda Rhimes “You Never Say Yes to Anything” You what? You pass out, you die, you poop? No. And every single time you get the chance? Stand up in front of people. What does Shonda have to say about saying yes? Clearly, I am not alone in saying “no” quite easily. However, this was also the reason I picked up the book. I want to protect my "yes” like it’s the post-apocalyptic wasteland and “yes” is the only drink of water left on this sun-blasted planet. ![]() However, going into this book, I was a little hesitant. I knew Shonda Rhimes as a badass woman with adorable kids and a serious gift for writing television. So I originally read this book back in 2017 when I was digging deep into my personal development journey and reread it recently in an attempt to get myself back into the mindset. ![]()
